Rutgers Alumni,
The Associated Press has recently uncovered that the NYPD was engaged in surveillance and information gathering of Rutgers University students and faculty.
In response to this, the Rutgers University Muslim Alumni Association (RUMAA) is:
1. Actively engaging in dialogue with the Rutgers administration to ensure the safety of all students and faculty members.
2. Launching a “Know Your Rights” campaign for the student body on the Rutgers campuses to ensure that student safety is not compromised and that Rutgers remains a safe place for students to express their views.
We encourage you to sign this letter to the University requesting that they issue a public statement in support of civil liberties:

This is absolutely unacceptable. The NYPD should only investigate when they have probable cause. I’m concerned about the future when college students, who are barely adults, can be watched without substantial evidence.
